I can dream – can’t I?

Don’t get my wrong, I love my 4 year old Nikon D300 and I am not normally a person who want’s to get all the new fancy gadgets.

This time however, is an exception – the new Nikon D800 appears marvellous, especially for me ; as I strongly dislike (read=it’s all greek to me) using flash or strobes.

Perhaps one day – in the distant future, I can afford to buy one.

D300 is great! I accompany it with Sigma DP2 which is a treasure as well. If I upgrade my gear some day, it will be the D800E for sure.

I ordered mine March 14th, but I have no idea how long it will be before I actually get my hands on it. Nikon is so back ordered some people are saying it could be January 2013 before they get caught up. Some people are concerned about how sharp it will be, I guess time will tell. I think it is going to be a pretty spectacular camera though. I’ll be sure to post a review, that’s assuming I ever get my hands on it!

Whoa – ordered March 14th? None of the popular vendors have even fulfilled all the orders placed thru Feb 7th yet. Try stalking your local Best Buy’s and Fry’s are also taking preorders. Nikon seemingly isn’t distinguishing any difference between all their resellers. Seems as if all vendors (including BH and Adorama) only got 10-20 units in the first two rounds of shipments. Good luck!

Yea I should have pre-ordered sooner! I’ve talked to B&H (BTW, very cooperative & helpful people), they said essentially the same thing. I tried Best Buy, but they said they will not be having any in stock, only online. Of course online they’re backordered too. I’ve been stalking my other local stores, but no luck yet!
